Beach Littering Incidents Soared During Hot Spell

Clare County Council says rates of littering at the county’s beaches have increased as people took to the coast during the hot weather.

Despite having the environmental standing of our coastal areas commended with nine Blue Flag awards last week, it seems those visiting beaches have not heeded the signs asking for no littering.

Early morning patrols on many of the beaches and promenades have shown bags full of rubbish left near bins and on strands.
