Prospect Of Industrial Action Avoided At Clare Libraries

The prospect of industrial action at Clare libraries has been averted after staff voted overwhelmingly in favour of measures which will restore staffing levels.

Last year, staff were poised to strike over government moves to introduce self-service facilities at a number of branches, citing concerns over anti-social behaviour and child protection issues.

In a deal struck this week, the government has undertaken to increase staffing levels across the service in return for greater flexibility from workers – including moves to progress straffless library projects.
