The new Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District insists rural Clare is not dead and buried, despite limited supports from government.
Independent Councillor Ian Lynch has taken over from Fianna Fáil’s Michael Hillery in the role for the coming year.
Last September saw the launch of a 10-year strategy to support rural Clare, targets the creation of 4,000 jobs over the next decade, but concern is still being expressed that not enough is being done.

Kilrush Councillor Lynch wants further supports put in place to help the west of the county flourish.
