51 On Trolleys At Region’s Main Hospital

Nurses say 51 patients were left waiting for beds at the region’s main hospital today.

The latest analysis from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows University Hospital Limerick is the most overcrowded in the country once again.

There were 27 patients waiting on trolleys in the emergency department this morning, with a further 24 in overflow areas of wards.

The overall figure is 20 more than the next busiest hospital, on a day when 296 people have been waiting to be admitted at hospitals throughout the country.
