The PRO of Kilrush Chamber fears there is no quick fix to the high commercial vacancy rate in the town but insists steps must be taken.
It’s after a survey carried out by GeoDirectory found that Kilrush has the second-highest rate nationally, at 26.2% – while Shannon is also in the top five, on 25%.
Overall, the vacancy rate in Clare rose by 0.2% in the second quarter of this year to 14.9% overall, at a time when some 14 counties experienced a reduction in theirs.

Jack Kelly, who runs Kelly’s Meat Store in the town centre, has been telling Clare FM’s James Mulhall that it’s concerning but says it’s down to decisions taken a decade ago:
