Clare businesses pay some of the highest rates levels in the country.
A new IBEC study has also found that Clare County Council is more dependent on rates for its income than most local authorities.
The business group says 38.5% of the Council’s income is paid by retailers in the form of rates, with the average bill here 8,830 euro, higher than all bar only five other local authorities.

Aidan Sweeney, author of the Local Economic Indicators report, says it indicates an over-reliance on local business.
