CSO Reveals Increase In Agri Land Values In Mid-West

The value of agricultural land in the MidWest increased last year, according to new CSO figures.

However, the amount of land sold, and the number of transactions, both fell in 2017.

Clare FM’s James Mulhall reports.

The CSO measures land prices on a regional basis, so the figures for Clare also include Limerick and Tipperary.

But they show that the median price of land sold last year increased by over 10%, from an average of 6,500 euro per acre to nearly 7,200.

In five of the eight regions measured, the CSO recorded falls in value.

2658 acres were sold in 156 seperate transactions – both of those figures represent falls on the previous two years.
