Concern is being expressed about the scale of road closures being considered for peak shopping times in Ennis this Christmas.
O’Connell Street is already pedestrianised for weekends in the lead up to December 25th to allow shoppers to carry out errands in safety.
But this year, Clare County Council has submitted a notice of intention to close Salt House Lane and High Street, restricting access at peak times for all traffic.

Ennis Fine Gael Councillor Johnny Flynn is concerned about the impact it would have on those driving into town from other parts of Clare.
