The Shannon-based President of Active Retirement Ireland is urging people to check in on their isolated older neighbours over the coming days.
With focus on family and festivities in the build-up to Christmas, it’s feared those who are living alone will be struggling this week and in particular on Christmas Day.
The colder weather, too, can pose a danger to older people living alone when they may not be able to leave their homes due to icy conditions.
