The ESB operates fewer electric car charging points in Clare than anywhere else in the MidWest.
The state-owned firms owns 18 in total across the county – two fast chargers, which can charge a car in just half an hour, and 16 standard ones.
While in Limerick there are a total of 30, with 22 around Tipperary – though in all counties, there would be further ones privately owned and council owned.

Colm O’Brien from Tuamgraney is an electric car driver and says the number of charging points is a deterent for would-be electric car drivers:
