Clare householders are being urged to ensure they have a working carbon monoxide alarm, as it could save their lives.
The stark warning comes as the fire service here says it’s had a number of incidents throughout the year involving carbon monoxide, where there was no alarm present.
The gas, known as the silent killer, is invisible and odourless meaning it often overpowers people before they realise it’s in their home.
