It’s claimed a rising number of families in West Clare being gripped by ‘rural poverty’.
Sinn Féin representative Violet Ann Wynne is commenting in light of the latest report from Pobal, the non-profit intermediary between the Government and local communities, which says there’s a concentration of rural poverty around small towns.
It shows that those living in areas where development takes place are more likely to be employed and have money, while the further from the urban centres you go, the more likely you are to suffer harsher economic conditions.
