A leading Midwest gynaecologist is expressing concern about the length of time it is taking for women to receive the results of their smear tests.
It has emerged that a scheme of free repeat smear tests announced by Minister Simon Harris in the wake of the CervicalCheck scandal is set to cost in the region of €10 million.
But there are also concerns over the length of time it’s taking to read these tests, up to 20 weeks, and that it could cost lives.
