Coveney Sees Job Opportunities After End Of Coal Burning At Moneypoint

The Tanaiste says he believes there are opportunities for jobs growth in Clare from offshore wind energy.

Minister Simon Coveney was speaking in the Dáil as he was questioned by Deputy Michael Harty on the future of Moneypoint, which is to cease operations as a coal-fired power plant by 2025.

During the exchange, the Minister acknowledged that this poses challenges for the ESB, including in supporting their employees, though he also stated that he felt coal-fired power generation is now “inappropriate.”
