On a packed Friday edition of Morning Focus, Gavin had a chat about the big news of the week for our Friday Panel and we looked ahead to the Ennis Book Club Festival where one author is using her work to raise funds for women’s services. Also, employment and the future of The Labour Party.
Firstly, Gavin spoke to Pauline White, who is the author of a report that sheds light on the importance of industry for Clare jobs. The report shows that Shannon has the fourth highest share in industry nationally.
Next up, author Janet Sahafi was on the air telling us about why the sales of her books at the upcoming Ennis Book Club Festival will be going towards women’s services in Clare. We also heard from Marie McLaughlin from Clare Haven, one of the charities that will benefit from these sales, to learn about what Clare Haven do for women in the county.

Adrian Kane was then on the air talking to Gavin about a meeting to be held this evening on the future of The Labour Party in Clare. Kane, who is also a SIPTU divisional organiser talked about the state of trade unions in Ireland.
For the second half of the show, Gavin Grace went over the week’s news for our Friday panel, which included the Michael McNamara, former Clare TD; arts representative for the local Public Participation Network and part of Clare FG, Trudy Leyden plus the editor for Clare Champion, Peter O’Connell. They talked about the week’s news, including Michael Cohen’s testimony and the potential for a new village-taxi service in rural areas.
