Renewed Confidence In Midwest Health Service Following Harris Meeting

Renewed confidence is being expressed in the health system in the Midwest, following a number of assurances from the Health Minister.

Simon Harris has met with the four Clare members of the HSE’s Regional Health Forum West and put some of their fears to rest on the future of the service here.

He has confirmed that the remaining €17 million for the 60-bed modular unit at University Hospital Limerick will be delivered, while upgrading Ennis General to a Model 3 facility could be on the cards in the next five years.

Minister Harris has also admitted it will be 2023 at the earliest before the long-awaited 96-bed block at UHL is ready but Independent Sixmilebridge Councillor PJ Ryan says it’s all progress:
