Clare County Council has been told to deliver 475 new local authority homes this year.
The figure includes 100 newly-built homes, a target that the Council is unlikely to achieve.
However, permission is being sought to increase the number of houses it can buy in order to meet its targets.

Shannon Councillor Gerry Flynn, who chairs the local authority Committee that deals with housing, says this is needed to allow the Council deliver enough homes.
