Gardaí Searching For Driver Of Car Following Hit & Run Incident In Ennis

Gardaí are searching for the driver of a car who fled the scene of collision in Ennis, which resulted in one man being hospitalised.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon at the junction of the Golf Links Road and the R474 road on the outskirts of the town.

At around half past three yesterday afternoon, a silver Ford Mondeo car narrowly missed colliding with another car, before smashing into the rear of a Ford Transit van.

The driver of the offending vehicle immediately fled the scene.

Emergency services were alerted and Gardaí, Ambulance and units from Clare’s County Fire Service attended the scene.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital where he was treated for injuries which are not believed to be serious.

A woman and two children were assessed by paramedics at the scene but were found to be unhurt and did not required further treatment.

The scene has been technically examined by members of the Clare divisional Crime Scene Investigation team and the Mondeo has been seized and removed for a more detailed analysis.

Gardaí in Ennis are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have seen the silver Mondeo in the area around the time of the crash or earlier, to contact them on 065 6848100.
