Government Turning Back On Social Obligation To Rural Ireland – McInerney

A West Clare Fianna Fáil representative is accusing the government of turning their backs on their social obligation to rural Ireland.

It follows An Post’s financial reports for 2018, which show that the state-owned company made operating profits of €41 million last year, with a total revenue of in the region of €900 million.

But last year also saw the closure of around 150 post office branches, mostly in rural areas, which it was claimed would take just €8 million to prevent.
