Clare’s new Mayor says he expects the Council to fight for Ennis General Hospital in the year ahead.
Meelick Councillor Cathal Crowe become the youngest Mayor of Clare in almost a century this past Friday when he was elected into the role by his fellow Councillors.
He was also one of the 27 of 28 elected members who signed a pledge before last month’s local elections in which they pledged support for the restoration of full A&E care to Ennis, along with the upgrade of the hospital to Model 3 Status.
A Sunday newspaper report found a national high of 560 people waiting at least 24 hours on a trolley at University Hospital Limerick between January and March.
Councillor Crowe now expects the issue of health to be raised consistently by the elected members
