Shannon Will “Agressively” Push For Norwegian Replacement

Management at Shannon Airport say they’ll “aggressively” push other airlines in the US to fill the void left by Norwegian Airlines.

The budget airline has withdrawn transatlantic services from Ireland owing to the global grounding of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft, which it was to use to fly from Shannon.

Concern has been raised over the impact the move will have on the entire Midwest region, with the Airport estimating that it represents an economic hit of €60 million.

But Acting CEO of Shannon Group, Mary Considine has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that the route delivered strong passenger numbers and insists they’re taking every step to secure a replacement, even if that could take time.
