Morning Focus – Monday 02/09/19

The Monday edition of Morning Focus looked ahead to the visit of US VP Mike Pence to his ancestral village of Doonbeg and remembered the arrival of legend Muhammed Ali to Ennis, ten years ago, to see where his great grandfather had come from.

Gavin heard from former Mayor of Ennis Frankie Neylon, who conferred the Freedom of Ennis on Ali, and from reporter Fiona Donnellan who covered the event.

After the news at 10am, Gavin heard from Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Tríona O’Rourke who outlined some of the security restrictions for local people in Shannon and Doonbeg ahead of the visit to Ireland today (Mon, September 2) of US Vice President Mike Pence.

Then Gavin was joined on the line from Doonbeg by publican Tommy Comerford of the Doonbeg Development Association and Rita McInerney a local business woman and FF General Election candidate.

The show rounded off with a discussion of all the weekend’s sporting action with Clare FM’s Darren Kelly. Listen back below:
