IHCA Accuses Harris Of Making “Blatant Effort” To Deflect Blame From Government

The Irish Hospital Consultants Association has accused the Health Minister’s of making a “blatant effort” to deflect blame from the government on hospital issues in the Midwest.

It follows Simon Harris stating in the Dáil that doctors at University Hospital Limerick are not travelling to smaller hospitals in the region.

The IHCA says the majority of consultants at UHL are working in other hospitals too, including Ennis General.

The Minister made the comments as he announced that 15 beds would open in St John’s Hospital in Limerick, saying it was “inexcusable” that management had left these beds closed during chronic overcrowding at UHL.
