A new Mayor of Clare is to be elected this evening.
The seat has been vacant since last weekend, when Fianna Fáil’s Cathal Crowe was elected to serve as a TD in Dáil Éireann.
His party colleague, Ballybeg Councillor Clare Colleran-Molloy, who had served as Crowe’s deputy mayor, is expected to be named as his successor.
