It’s hoped the number of community response units in Clare will rise in the coming years.
It follows the launch of the Ruan/Dysert Community Response Unit this month, which acts as a first point of call in an emergency situation, to supplement ambulance services.
Such groups have a significant impact in terms of saving lives, particularly in more rural areas, where wait times for ambulances can be longer.

Ennis-based paramedic Padraig Lordan says the two services can work in tandem to ensure people receive the lifesaving care they need.
