Clare TD Calls For Extension For Farmer Support Scheme To Help During COVID Pandemic

Clare’s Independent TD is calling on the government to extend the support scheme introduced for farmers last year during the beef crisis, to guide them through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The latest shutdown announced by the Taoiseach earlier this week saw the country’s marts close with immediate effect, which has been met by mixed reaction from farming groups.

For the foreseeable future, farmers will be unable to sell livestock that they have spent money on preparing for the mart, which will directly hit them in the pocket.
