Clare’s Sinn Féin TD insists it is “incomprehensible” that the Dáil would not continue to sit during the COVID-19 crisis and over the Easter break.
A Dáil sitting is currently scheduled for Thursday but there is no formal business on the agenda, as the coronavirus fallout along with emergency legislation to tackle it continues to dominate the political sphere.
Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty has called for proper scrutiny of these laws, however, and says it’s essential that there is accountability in government at this critical time.
Kilrush Deputy Violet-Anne Wynne is backing that call and says with everyone putting their shoulder to the wheel, different rules cannot come in for politicians.
