A University of Limerick scientist says testing solutions for the coronavirus being developed at the institution are already in use at the region’s main hospital.
A team at UL has been working around the clock, in a bid to tackle the global shortage of reagents.
These are solutions prepared in a lab, which are then used to generate results from patient swabs, but a bottleneck has been occurring because of the huge demand for them worldwide, to treat patients of the virus.

Dr Edel Durack is among the team that is at the forefront of these efforts and says they’re working hard to increase the supply where they can.
