Ennis Stabbing Victim Named Locally

A post mortem examination is due to take place this morning on the body of a man who died following a stabbing incident in Ennis.

Gardaí are continuing to question a man in connection with a serious assault, and are following a definite line of inquiry.

The victim has been named locally as 32 year old Eoin Boylan.

At around 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Gardai were called to Gordon Drive in the Cloughleigh area of Ennis following an altercation between two men.

On arrival, they found a man in his early 30s with stab wounds.

He passed away from his injuries a short time later and his body was removed to the Mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post mortem will take place this morning.

A man in his late 30s was arrested following the attack and is being questioned at Ennis Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí in Ennis say they are following a definite line of inquiry.

They’re appealing to anyone who was in the Cloughleigh Estate/Gordon Drive area of Ennis yesterday afternoon, and who may have information or camera footage, to contact them on 065 68 48100 or the Garda confidential Line 1800 666 111.

Tributes are being paid to Eoin Boylan, following his death.

Banner Martial Arts and Fitness Club says it’s ‘sickened’ to have lost a ‘determined student’ and ‘generous friend’.

Deputy Mayor of Ennis, Independent Councillor Ann Norton is also paying tribute.
