Concern About Lobbying Of Teachers On Leaving Cert Results

Teachers have expressed concern about the potential for lobbying in favour of Leaving Cert students.

The Teachers Union of Ireland has backed the government’s decision to cancel this year’s exams, but is looking for a protocol to protect teachers from lobbying from students, parents or politicians.

The cancellation has also received general support here, and on the issue of lobbying one retired Clare principal says it won’t be the first time that teachers have had to grade their students’ Leaving Cert, citing construction projects as an example.
