The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is more than three times higher than any other facility in the country, as the week begins.
The latest INMO figures show 54 patients were left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 28 of those in the emergency department.
The overall figure is 39 more than the next busiest hospital and comes on a day when 117 patients have been left waiting for beds at hospitals across the country.
