Clare County Council is to submit an application to an Bord Pleanála today, to carry out works aimed at alleviating flooding at Springfield, Clonlara.
There had been hopes that a Part 8 application could be submitted, which would allow the council to deal with it themselves, but previous part 8 applications have been shot down.
It’s one of the country’s most notorious blackspots and has caused distress to people living there for years.

One such person, Gerardine Quinlivan, is optimistic at the prospect of an application being submitted.
