The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is more than twice that of the next busiest facility.
The latest INMO figures show there were 55 people waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 35 of those in the emergency department.
The overall figure is 32 more than the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital, and comes on a day when 166 people were waiting to be admitted at hospitals across the country.
