There are calls for a more proactive approach in helping with the transition to more green forms of energy in West Clare.
Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy has raised the issue at a meeting of area Councillors, in which he called on the Council for engagement with community efforts and help the county adjust to a lower carbon future.
The key issue at hand is the uncertain future of Moneypoint, and for its workers, and Councillor Garrihy says preparations are needed now.
