The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital is more than twice that of the next busiest facility.
The latest INMO figures show there were 43 people waiting on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 36 of those in the emergency department.
The overall figure is 24 more than the next busiest facility and comes on a day when 144 people are waiting to be admitted at hospitals across the country.
