Mid-West Unemployment Rate Stands At 5.3%

The number of people in employment in the MidWest fell by nearly 10,000 in the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CSO says the number of workers in Clare, Tipperary and Limerick stood at 208,600 at the end of June, giving the region an unemployment rate of 5.3%.

This is marginally higher than the national average of 5.1%.

The figures also show that, in percentage terms, the drop in the number of people working here is the lowest of any region in Ireland, with the MidWest faring marginally better than the West and Dublin.
