15 of Clare’s primary schools look set to lose a teacher.
Education Minister Norma Foley has told the Dáil that the schools are among 428 nationwide who are to lose a member of their teaching staff because of falling numbers of students.
The schools in question have not been named, and the final decision won’t be confirmed until potential appeals processes are concluded in the coming weeks.

Only six counties will see a higher number of schools impacted, and Former President of the INTO and current Councillor Joe Killeen says the pupil teacher ratio needs to be reduced.
