Nurses say the region’s main hospital remains the most overcrowded in the country today.
There are 59 people waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick as of this morning, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
39 of these are in the emergency department.

The next busiest facility is almost half that number, with 32 patients waiting to be admitted at Cork University Hospital.
It comes on a day when 240 people are on trolleys in hospitals across the country.
