Ennis has continued to climb the table in the latest anti-litter league survey.
The county town has climbed to 6th place in the IBAL survey, having been as low as 22nd early last year.
Ennis continues to be considered ‘cleaner than European norms’ along with eight other towns across the country.
Back in 2017, the county town was named the cleanest in Ireland, but at the beginning of last year it dropped from the top spot to 22nd place.
It’s now climbed back up to 6th place in the 40-town league table.
The An Taisce report, commissioned by IBAL, states that Ennis continues to perform strongly, with eight out of the ten sites surveyed getting the top litter grade.
Sites such as Abbey Street Car Park, Tim Smythe Park and Clare County Museum were earmarked as being ‘well presented and maintained’. Gort Road Business Park was the most heavily littered site surveyed in the town.
It contrasts with the national picture, which has seen the number of towns and cities deemed ‘clean’ at its lowest level since 2007.
