COVID-19 ICU Numbers At Highest Level Since May

41 people with Covid-19 are being treated in intensive care units – the highest figure since May.

It comes as there’s been a fall in the number of people with the disease in hospitals.

Figures have remained stead at University Hospital Limerick, however.

The number of people with the disease in ICUs has steadily increased since the beginning of September – with the total more than doubling since the start of this month.

327 people are in hospitals nationwide with the virus, which is down from yesterday’s figure of 354.

19 of those are being treated at University Hospital Limerick, a figure that remains unchanged from the previous day, with one person in the ICU.

According to figures which are published each night by the HSE there were 27 people with Covid-19 on ventilators across the country.

Just over 11,000 Covid-19 tests were carried out yesterday – a drop on totals over the last couple of weeks.

The positivity rate of the tests has fallen over the past seven days to 5.7 percent – it had reached a high of 7.3 percent last week.
