There’s been a broad welcome from Clare businesses to the announcement of a new daily direct ferry service between Ireland and mainland Europe.
From January, a new daily route from Rosslare to Dunkirk will open, while a weekly crossing will be added from Cork to Zeebrugge in Belgium.
Transport Minister Eamon Ryan says it’s an alternative to avoiding inevitable delays on the UK landbridge.

It will take up to 24 hours to cross directly to mainland Europe.
Willie Wixted, director of Shannon-based ABC Nutrition, says the route is a practical solution to some of the problems posed by Brexit.
