Shannon Expecting 96% Fall In Traffic This Christmas

Shannon Airport is preparing for a 96 percent drop in passengers this year compared to Christmas 2019, according to reports.

The county’s airport has had no scheduled services since mid-November, with Ryanair’s routes from Stansted, Manchester and Wroclaw set to resume later this month.

The Irish Examiner reports Shannon is preparing for just 4 per cent of its custom from last year.

Transport Minister Eamon Ryan last month opened the door to the possibility of the government giving direct support to airlines, to allow them to fly key routes out of Shannon.
