‘Imperative’ Brexit Deal Is Reached To Avoid Consequences For Clare Businesses – Carey

A Clare Government TD says it’s ‘imperative’ a Brexit deal is reached to avoid serious consequences for businesses and employees in this county and elsewhere.

The British Prime Minister and European Commission President will meet in Brussels in the coming days to try and end the Brexit deadlock after failing to reach an agreement on the phone yesterday.

There are some sticking points remaining including fishing rights and the so-called ‘level playing field’.

There are some suggestions that Boris Johnson travelling to meet Ursula von der Leyen shows he’s willing to reach an agreement.

Concerns have been expressed here locally that some Clare businesses aren’t ready for trading post-Brexit and Clarecastle Fine Gael Deputy Joe Carey says Britain crashing out of the EU would impact every sector of society here.
