There are plans for a new affordable housing scheme which would help finance first-time buyers.
Proposals are to go to cabinet next week which would involve the government taking up a 30 percent stake of equity in property purchases.
It comes as new figures from daft.ie show house prices in Clare have risen by 4% in the past 12 months, with the average price of a house in this county now 191,000 euro.

It’s understood there will be no salary caps for applicants to the affordable housing scheme, but Karl Deeter from Irish Mortgage Brokers, says it won’t be a solution to the cost of housing:
