Clarecastle Councillor Paul Murphy has welcomed the decision of Clare County Council to approve plans by Roche to clear the site of its Clarecastle plant.
The decision, which can still be appealed, gives the company the go-ahead to demolish almost all infrastructure at its site in Clarehill.
Supporters hope this will see the site ideally positioned to welcome another large scale employer into the area in the coming years, but others have raised concerns at the for dozens of trucks a day to travel through the village to transport materials off-site, over a three year period.

Fine Gael Councillor Paul Murphy believes the majority of the local community are in favour of the move.
