The West Clare Mini Marathon is going virtual for the first time this weekend.
Instead of its usual route along the coastal road walk of Kilkee, the distance can now be completed within a runner’s own five kilometre radius either today or tomorrow afternoon.
The initiative, now in its 23rd year, traditionally raises thousands of euro for the retention of cancer care services in West Clare.

Chairman of the group Willie McGrath believes the event will give people the impetus to step outside and exercise this weekend.
