The Killaloe electoral area covering East Clare saw just 13 new cases of Covid 19 confirmed between the 26th of January and this past Monday the 8th of February.

Its rate now stands at just 64.7 per 100,000 people – no electoral area in the country has a lower prevalence of the virus.

The Ennistymon region is the next lowest here, with North Clare having seen just 18 cases in the same period – its rate now stands at 109.7.

Health Protection Surveillance Centre data does show a slight increase in cases in West Clare – 32 cases were confirmed in the Kilrush region in that 14 day period compared to 25 this time last week.

Virus rates in Ennis and Shannon continue to fall, however – Shannon’s rate of 197.4 and Ennis’ instance of 258.8 per 100,000 people are still significantly below the national average.

Eight further cases were confirmed here last night, with Clare’s overall prevalence of Covid now the third lowest in the country.
