Family Of Patrick Nugent Seek Details Of Planned Publication Of Report

The family of Patrick Nugent are seeking clarity on when a Judge-led report into his 1984 death will be published.

It’s now over three months since Judge Patrick Clyne submitted his finished report to government, but the Dáil has heard that advice is still being sought from the Attorney General on its publication, and that there is currently no timeline for this.

A solicitor acting on behalf of the family has now written to the Department of Justice seeking clarity.

23-year-old banqueting manager Patrick Nugent had been working at a party in Bunratty in February 1984 before his death, and the jury at his inquest later ruled he had been accidentally hit by a car after he had been struck by a person or persons unknown.

No one has ever been convicted in relation to his death.
