Clare’s Fine Gael TD has made a formal call in the Dáil for point-to-point horse racing to be allowed to return.
While horse racing is permitted to continue even during Level 5 restrictions, the same exemption has not been granted for this grassroots element of the sport.
However, Clarecastle TD Joe Carey has argued that point-to-point meets should be allowed to return, saying there were no outbreaks associated with the 37 meetings that were allowed to be held up until they were halted in January.
