The government’s National Planning Framework sets out a vision for the country for the next 20 years.
But parts of that vision have been dismissed as unacceptable by many Clare Councillors because of potential negative impacts here.

Councillors are in the early stages of adopting a new County Development Plan for Clare.
But in doing so, say they are “constrained” by the national framework – constrained in their ability to progress development in many Clare villages and constrained in where one-off housing may and may not be permitted in rural areas.
